Shades of Hemingway
The facades of the welcoming house, where the writer lived for several years, sheltered on all sides by a deep porch. SHADE being a precious asset in Florida’s climate, as, indeed, it is in ours. Should we persist in pointing out that the straight facade with windows is a climatic absurdity?
The windows on the left give onto Ernest and Pauline’s bedroom, where visitors are greeted with elegant snootiness by the cats snoozing on the bed. Cats with six toes, descended from those of the celebrated author.
